Cockroach Control

Cockroaches are extremely resilient and hard to catch. They can crawl through cracks and survive without food for long periods of time. Cockroaches are dirty, scary, and can cause major disruption to your household or business. Contact Senske Pest Control today at or request a free estimate.

Fast Reproduction

It’s hard to control a cockroach infestation because of the amount of eggs produced by each female and the way in which she nests them- on her back. Cockroaches can multiply extremely quickly; a female cockroach can produce 10-12 egg sacs every year. Each egg sac can carry 30 eggs. That means just one cockroach can become a colony of thousands within a short amount of time. It’s important to address your cockroach invasion as soon as you spot a single roach in your house or business.

Common in Kitchens & Bathrooms

Cockroaches. A single cockroach sits on some concrete.

Cockroaches hide out around water (in bathrooms and kitchens) during the day and usually creep around in the dark, searching for meats, grease, starch, and sugary foods. They are known to go after soaps, toothpaste, glue, and even their own species if food sources become scarce.

If you have a cockroach invasion, immediately put all foods in sealed containers. Cockroaches can pose a real pest of a problem. They can invade any part of a residence or business property, but they’re most attracted to kitchens or bathrooms and areas where food is kept or garbage is present. Once cockroaches find a source of food, they can be difficult to eradicate… and they can multiply quickly.

Call Senske Pest Control for professional cockroach removal. Let us get rid of cockroaches before they move into your house for good!

Why They’re Difficult to Kill

Roaches are persistent and, after invading, intend to stick around for a long time. Cockroaches have something in their mouth called ‘palpi’. This gives them the ability to taste something without eating it. This feature allows them to avoid poisons meant to kill them, which is why getting rid of cockroaches is difficult. At Senske Pest Control, we are experienced in cockroach extermination, so call us today at  or request a free estimate.

Species of Cockroaches Most Prevalent in the West

There are more than 4,000 species of cockroaches living throughout the world today. The United States is home to 70 species of cockroaches. In the Western US we only have to deal with 4 species of cockroaches: German cockroaches, Oriental cockroaches, American cockroaches, and Australian cockroaches.

Great Basin and German Roaches

The most common cockroaches in and around the Great Basin are German roaches. German cockroaches are the smallest cockroach found in our area, however, they are the cockroach most seen in private residences. German cockroaches like to live in warm environments. You’ll most-likely find German cockroaches in kitchens, bathrooms, or bedrooms where humans have been snacking. German cockroaches are responsible for making humans sick so it’s extremely important to rid your house of this cockroach species. They are easy to distinguish because of their small size (around ½ inch long) and 2 black streaks on their back.

Oriental Cockroaches

Oriental cockroaches, often called Black beetles because of their dark color, are large and shiny. They can usually be found in sewers or drainage areas and can enter houses through drains. Oriental cockroaches leave a strong odor wherever they live. They are considered one of the dirtiest of all cockroach species.

American Cockroaches

American cockroaches are the largest species of cockroach living in the western US. They are oftentimes found in large commercial buildings and restaurants, or where food production occurs. American cockroaches are rarely ever found inside private residences. When they do invade houses they usually invade in large numbers.

Oriental Australian Cockroaches

Although Australian cockroaches look similar to American cockroaches, they differ from the American cockroach in their size. Australian cockroaches are smaller than American cockroaches, usually having a length around 1 inch. They also have a yellow coloring on their thorax and yellow streaks near their wings. You’ll often find Australian cockroaches around the perimeter of your house. You might find Australian cockroaches trying to invade the inside of your house as the weather starts to get colder.
